Your Home Visit
We love to have our adoptive families come to visit!  Nothing is more fun than to meet you and show off our babies, although we have to be watchful of disease control and safety for our family.

We do require references and a completed adoption application  before we will allow any visitors into our home. Unfortunately, we live in a time when people are not as honest or forthright, as in times past.  As this is not a business address but my family home, I have to ensure that our privacy and safety are considered.  A few events that have taken place over the last year have forced us to set in place a visitation policy.
Recently, we had a family come to visit our home, in which I welcomed them without any thought, they seemed like a lovely family.  To make a long story short, they walked away leaving us a bounced check from a stolen check book, and we were two puppies less!  You can imagine how devastating that was for us AND the waiting list that were to receive the puppies. It is hard to understand what would make anyone do something so horrible, and unfortunately I now have to consider this when allowing strangers into my home.

We are very careful to keep our dogs free of parasites and diseases.  Our vet comes to our home to care for all of our animals, which truly helps keep our puppies and adults free of communicable disease.  We will ask ALL visitors to wash their hands and remove their shoes at the front door when arriving to our home.  We also insist that all visitors do not visit other facilities, pet stores, breeders, etc.  This will help us keep our animals from catching diseases such as Parvo---which can completely wipe out an entire breeding program faster than you can blink  your eye!   We feel these precautions are very necessary in preventing the spread of disease.  I have heard too many horror stories of entire breeding programs dying to this terrible disease.

Our home is closed to visitors until our puppies are 5 weeks old, so all waiting lists will have to wait to visit the puppies until this time. We feel it is important for the family to bond with their babies, as well as feel a part of watching them grow up!   This is why we provide video and  picture updates to our waiting lists, while awaiting visiting day.

Dogs are primarily ruled by their sense of smell. For those that want to introduce their scent (or even the scent of your other pets) to their new puppy, we suggest sending us a piece of fabric with their scent for us to introduce to the puppy.   When we send the puppy home, we will also send with it, a piece of fabric with Mom's and littermates scent on it!

Our animals' best interests are at heart, and we know everyone will understand  that in taking these simple precautions, we will ensure the health and well being of  their new puppy!
