"We are so glad you  dropped in to see our puppies. We are breeders of quality Teddy Bear Faced Schnoodles and Bassetdoodles!"
If you are interested in our puppies and waiting list, please take a moment to read through our policies to acquaint yourself to how we raise our babies.
Breeding Philosphy and Policies:
Our animals are raised in our home, around children of all ages, other dogs, and cats. Our adult dogs  are our family pets first  and foremost, and are a part of our family. All of our puppies  are well socialized, raised in our home and paper trained  using our unique, tried and true socialization program.  To learn more about how we socialize your puppy, read our page The Uptown Puppy Socialization Program
The Uptown Puppy Socialization Program™

Our puppies are born in our bedroom, where they are kept until their eyes and ears open. We handle the puppies daily to acquaint them to human touch, using the Super Dog Program. We use this technique from days 2-16, when they are moved out into our living room (pictured here) where they are apart of all the action of our busy household. On warm days the pups are brought outside to play in the puppy yard, and they are lovingly held and played with every day they are 'living at home'. We have found this it be imperative in raising well socialized puppies. These early weeks mold and create the personality your puppy will have for the rest of its life with you. Would you want to trust that crucial development phase with a puppy mill or kennel where puppies are unfamiliar with human touch?

The puppies available for adoption will be featured on the Puppy Nursery page. If you are interested in any of these darling babies, please contact us to set up a time for a phone appointment to discuss your family's specific needs, at: uptownschnoodles@gmail.com

Personality Testing:

The more I raise puppies, the more I am amazed at the different personalities and how they develop! Just like us, each pup has a unique personality that is their very own. I feel it is very important to be watchful of each individual puppy in order to evaluate their personality correctly. In doing so, we are able to help our families in choosing the perfect fit for their home.  While matching a puppy's personality to it's family sounds like a drawn out process that you may feel unnecessary, I feel it is best for the puppy and their new family. This is a family member that you will be spending many years with, and I want to be able to find the best match for your particular home and lifestyle.

I perform a series of unique personality tests from the age of 4 weeks on, to determine the temperament and personality of each puppy. These tests are performed throughout the most active time of the day to ensure accurate readings. The testing includes reactions to stimuli such as, noise, surprise reactions, tolerance abilities, and basic reactions to new situations, people, other animals, and children. Then, I am able to place a puppy in the best environment for it's particular personality. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about a certain puppy. We try to match each puppy to the family that is best suited for it.   We also provide continued support to our families with suggestions for socialization activities to continue the successful start they have had with us, in your home.
It is important to remember,  a pup's temperament is not a certain indicator of what it will be as an adult. Proper training, socialization and positive discipline must be continued when the puppy is in its new home to ensure the work  we have done with your pup is maintained.   This dedication on your part will reward you ten-fold when your pup is fully grown and is a well behaved, confident dog.  This time during the first weeks is as crucial as the time we have invested in the first 8 weeks. You will build healthy habits, and have a wonderful friendly family member for the rest of his life, while nipping any negative behavior traits in the bud, before it begins!

Discipline VS. Personality:

As much time as I put into evaluating the puppies and their temperaments, there are some factors that are environmental in the raising of a puppy. I am a firm believer that a dog's behavior is only as good as the owner's training.
A mellow, responsive, sweet-natured puppy can leave our quiet home and enter a home that is chaotic and stressful. Do you think that puppy will develop the same in the new environment as it would have in the quiet home? Probably not. The mood of the home will strongly effect a puppy. This is why it is very important to match a puppy to the BEST ENVIORNMENT for it's natural tendencies.  If there is an abundant amount of activity, loud children (or adults!), yelling, rough housing, etc, then a dog will pick up this energy and become more energetic or possibly neurotic. Same goes for inconsistent training and discipline. A puppy that is 'nearly housetrainied' when it leaves our home can revert back to being completely un-trained if the family lets the puppy have free-reign of the house and are inconsistent in taking the puppy outdoors on a schedule. A puppy is easily confused by the mixed signals that are sent by it's humans. A bored untrained dog can resort to barking or digging if they are left outside for long hours unattended. We find that most of our families have great success in training their puppies, as they are committed to the responsibility of being consistent with their dog. We occasionally have a few people that have training issues, and with further discussion the root issue is always inconsistent training. How can you be successful in raising a happy well adjusted and trained puppy? Read books on puppy training, watch the Dog Whisperer, (Cesar Millan is amazing!!!) and sign up for obedience classes at Petsmart or other local facilities that have positive training classes! All of these steps help novice dog owners learn how to raise a well trained and disciplined puppy!

We deliver for a fee within the state PER FAMILY.

This is a service we provide for our out of town families, and the fee includes our time, gas, and upkeep on our vehicle.

Seattle Area/Issaquah: 150.00
Moses Lake: 75.00
Ellensburg: 100.00
Portland/Vancouver: 175.00

If you live out of state, we either ship the puppies, or you can pick up the puppy and fly back with the crate under the seat as a carry on. We've had great experiences shipping and it is much easier on the pups than a long car ride. They are treated very well, and are in a climate controlled cargo area, separate from the baggage.
Shipping Charges--$375.00 (all inclusive)Inlcudes health cert, crate, food, flight.

To lessen your worry, we include all fees and pay directly for your flight.  The airlines have certain requirements to ship a dog such as:
  • Health Certificate

  • Series 100 Crate

  • (International shipments may need special paperwork)

  • Proper food and bedding

We make all the arrangements for shipping, as there are only certain flights that work with the shipment of animals.  So, even if you see a flight that looks like it will work for your schedule, that does not mean it will be one that is available for the shipment of your puppy.

The puppies do very well on the flight. We work with them by putting them in their crate throughout the day so when it is time to ship them, they are used to the new 'den'. Shipping is done either late in the evening or early in the morning. The baby sleeps through the flight with morning or afternoon arrival at your airport. Not all breeders ship puppies/kittens carefully, if you are having a puppy shipped to you from a breeder, make clear that the puppy is at least 8 weeks old. Insist that the puppy will have food, water, a bed, toy, etc.

Keep in mind that we have no control over nature and how many puppies we will have in a litter.
We do our best to provide a puppy in the time frame requested on the waiting list, but sometimes nature has it's own ideas about things!
NOTE:: There are RARE occasions that the litter is smaller than anticipated or a breeding does not result in a pregnancy.  On that RARE occasion that there are only 2 or 3 pups, or the breeding did not result in a pregnancy, the wait may be a little longer (approximately a 4 month wait). This is BEYOND Uptown Dog's control but it can happen. Please make sure you read have read our ADOPTION POLICY PAGE and understand this BEFORE You submit your deposit. There will be NO refunds and NO exceptions.

 The Deposit and Application Date:

If we accept your application you will be required to send a non-refundable and non-transferable $200 per puppy deposit. We cannot place a puppy on hold until a deposit is made. This will guarantee you a place on our waiting list and will be deducted from the adoption fee, leaving balance due in CASH/Pay-pal, once your puppy has been chosen after personality testing. All payments will need to be made before the pick up/delivery day.

If a family asks us to hold a puppy after the expected deliver date, we do require full payment of adoption fee before we can board the puppy. We ask this only, and do not charge any extra boarding costs to keep a puppy for up to three weeks, or when the puppy is 11 weeks old, unless we make arrangements prior. We want our puppies and new families to have a stress free transition from our home. Just give us a call if you need special arrangements, We love to work with you!

Applications are dated the day deposits are received, first pick of puppies is made in the order applications and deposits are received.

If you indicate you are interested in adopting two puppies, TWO deposits of $200.00 are required and must be received before the litter is offered to the waiting list for choosing. Once a deposit is submitted with an application, you will secure your place on our waiting list. If for any reason you decide not to adopt from us, your deposit will be forfeited, and your place on the waiting list will be given to the next family in line. Remember, a deposit is a contract between US and YOU, thus it shows us you are committed to adopting one of our puppies. We take that commitment seriously, and expect the same from our families on the waiting list. If you change your mind the loss of your deposit is your penalty. Please think through the decision to adopt a puppy and discuss the pros and cons with your family before you submit a deposit and application.

 How the Puppies are Raised:

We have been breeding since 1989, and have learned through trial and error the best way to raise pups. When the puppies are born, we keep them nearby in our bedroom where they are able to be in a quiet area away from the other dogs. We leave our television on throughout the day to acclimate the pups to the sounds of people and household noises. When the pups are 3-4 weeks old, we have an area in our Puppy Nursery, right off our bedroom, set up for the puppies to spend the rest of their time with us. This is right in the middle of our house, with lots of action. The puppies love being close to our children and family activities, and receive lots of attention throughout the day.  We also bring them out to run and play in our kitchen and living room, for supervised play.
They are exposed to our other adult dogs, and cats. In fact, our daughter and son's cat, Berlioz, absolutely loves the puppies, and he plays with them throughout the day-- He is darling! We have received many reports that our puppies are great cat lovers, and some suspicion of Berlioz possibly being the father! Whatever the reason, we believe this cat is a wonderful asset to our breeding program---the puppies love him!

We also paper train the puppies using our own special training program modeled after how Wolves in the wild train their pups, and have received many reports back that our pups were the easiest puppy to potty train. We take regular potty breaks outside, when weather permits, and the puppies have an area in the back yard to run and play without worry of getting into trouble.  All families will receive our 7-day training program and puppy housebreaking training program when they receive their puppy, to continue with our program in their home.

Our Recommended Food for Your Puppy:

I am a strong supporter of natural rearing, and we raise all of our dogs on a healthy, holistic diet. The recent pet food recalls are too risky to even try some of the other premium foods.  Even the best foods on the market are involved in the recalls, and I don't feel its worth the risk to use any other brand than Life's Abundance.  Not only is it a diet designed by a Veterinarian, but it is made fresh in small batches, so each and every shipment is fresh.  NOT sitting on the shelves at the local market for months.  The food is made from human grade ingredients with the perfect ratios for your puppy's growth through adulthood.  I dare you to compare the ingredients to other products on the market--its impressive! Food Comparison page

I have been successfully feeding my dogs this way for several years now, and the results are astounding. Yes, it is more expensive for me to feed my dogs this way, but the outcome is worth the investment. We have the healthiest dogs, and our vets are always amazed at the clean teeth and healthy coats! We encourage our new families to follow our feeding program to ensure the
